HOW IT WORKS

Long in. Short out.

  1. Paste a URL. The service accepts ordinary http:// and https:// destinations.
  2. Validation runs first. Unsupported schemes, embedded credentials, local/private destinations and blocked domains are rejected.
  3. A short code is created. By default it is generated using cryptographically secure randomness. You may choose an available custom ending instead.
  4. Optional settings are stored. You can choose an expiry period and whether simple click counting is enabled.
  5. The short link redirects. Visiting tis2.cc/<code> sends the browser to the original destination while the link remains active.

Preview before you follow

Every active short link has a preview page on thisistoolong.com. The preview shows the destination hostname and full destination URL without automatically sending you there.

Abuse controls

The service uses persistent rate limits, Cloudflare Turnstile, domain blocking, public abuse reports and administrative audit logging. Links can be disabled individually, and blocking a destination domain disables existing links to that domain and prevents new ones from being created.
